Businessman behind bars for fake currency 


45 year old Mzuzu based business man was arrested on sunday at Mzimba Trading Centre as he wanted to buy beer using fake money.
Pachalo Nyoni who owns a garage at Luwinga in Mzuzu had fourty thousand kwacha  (K40,000.) in total and wanted to use twelve thousand kwacha (K12,000.) for beer ….it was discovered by the bar tender that the money were not original as they were bearing same serial number. In no time he found himself in long alm of the government.

When properly checked it was discovered that out of fourty thousand kwacha (all K2000 notes) twenty eight thousand kwacha was fake.

Nyoni is the fifth person to be found with fake Malawian currency in Mzimba in a period of 2 months.

On 19th October 2017 Police arrested 3 men in Mbalachanda in Mzimba  who were  found with 4.9 million Malawian fake currency (K2000 notes) they had four serial numbers all together,
The case is still in court.

Pachalo Nyoni 45, comes from Khosolo Jere village in T/A Khonsolo in Mzimba and is to appear before court soon to answer charges of found in possession of fake currency.

The most common bank note used to blindfold people is the  K2,000 and K1,000 notes.
This is a serious offence let us report all perpetrators to police.
