SIDIK MIA FOUNDATION DONATES MULTI-MILLION KWACHA SCHOOL BLOCK TO MALAWI GOVERNMENT: “NOTHING FOR US WITHOUT US”
My fellow Malawians,
Cognizant of how a great equalizer education is to citizens of any society, the Sidik Mia foundation embarked on a multi-million kwacha school block construction at Jombo Community Day Secondary School in Chikwawa and yesterday was a great day for the foundation as we handed over the facility, fully furnished, to Malawi Government.
During the handover ceremony, I did point out that the foundation believes that a conducive learning environment is an integral component in our quest to achieve quality education. The Sidik Mia Foundation intervened to construct the classroom after the congestion problem at the institution was brought to our attention.
In my brief remarks during the handover ceremony, I advised the school authorities and particularly our boys and girls—the students— to take care of the facility so their younger sisters and brothers coming after them can also use it in good condition.
On a lighter note, I advised the students to be responsible and civilized enough to resist the temptation of writing graffiti…. such crazy and unfashionable stuff as “Sidik Mia was here before you” inscriptions some adults shamelessly write on public walls.
Receiving the donation on behalf of Malawi Government was the Education Divisional Manager in the South West Education Division, Mr Henry Gwede who thanked the foundation for what he described as “a timely donation.”
My fellow Malawians; let the timeless creed: “Nothing for us without us,” as advocated by President Dr. Chakwera, be our guiding principle as a nation. Let all of us rise to the occasion do what we can to develop our communities and indeed our nation.
Enjoy the pictures taken during the function.
May God Bless our country,
Have a blessed weekend!
