Recently, the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) claimed another prominent name in Malawi into its fold in the name of Rev. Maurice Munthali. Welcomed by Lazarus Chakwera, MCP president (pictured), the man in collar is formerly of Livingstonia Synod of Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP).
He was initially linked with a move to the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) after appearing at its rally in Rumphi some months ago.
But it seems the intra-party fighting has scarred him away to join Malawi’s oldest party. It is highly likely he will contest for a parliamentary seat under the party come 2019.
